Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to inform you of my intention to retire from my post as Principal of Pool Academy.

This is the most difficult letter I have had to write as I do so with sadness in my heart.  I have been privileged to have been Principal for the last 16 years and I will leave with many fond memories of my time here.

I must firstly thank all of the Governors for putting their faith and trust in me on my appointment 16 years ago and hope that I have repaid their confidence in continuing Pool Academy’s journey in such turbulent, challenging and uncertain times educationally, politically and financially.  I have enjoyed almost every moment!  There has certainly never been a dull moment.

I have complete confidence in our governing body making an outstanding appointment for my successor. They know exactly what will ensure that Pool Academy remains a warm, friendly and very ‘special’ place for pupils to thrive, flourish and excel.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of my 16 years at Pool Academy and especially seeing the school on its improvement journey.  It has been exciting but very rewarding, with the support of a happy, committed and highly professional staff, and an outstanding leadership team.  Whilst I would have relished the challenge to take the school into its next exciting phase it may be the right time for an energetic, committed and passionate successor who ‘gets’ the school ethos to continue our exciting journey.

I will miss everything about the school – your wonderful children who engage me every day with their amazing contributions, good humour and achievements; you, the parents who have been so supportive and of course my outstanding staff and governing body. I feel I will be passing Pool Academy over to a new post holder in a very positive and healthy position.

Thank you all once again for all your friendship and support, having the belief in me, and enabling me to end my career on such a positive note.

Best wishes

Mrs Zelma Hill
Principal
